What are nocturnal animals?

Nocturnal animals come out at night. They live in woods and other quiet places. They move around and feed while we sleep.

Here are some nocturnal animals (left). There are many others including: foxes, badgers, snails and hedgehogs.

Can they see at night?

Many nocturnal animals have poor eyesight. They rely on other senses like touch, feel and smell.

But some nocturnal animals can see very well at night. Owls, for example, have excellent night-time vision.

Can they hear well?

Nocturnal animals often need their ears more than their eyes. A wood may seem quiet at night but nocturnal animals listen for small sounds.

Where can we see nocturnal animals?

Most people don’t see nocturnal animals very often. We are usually sleeping when they are out.

In zoos nocturnal animals are kept in special dark areas during the day. This makes them think it is night. Visitors can then watch them.

Red Nose Day is on Friday 18th March. It’s a day like no other when the whole country gets together to do something funny for money and change countless lives in the process.

Welcome back all, I hope you all had an amazing time off from school.

As we know Christmas time is all about giving and getting presents, I am sure some of you got some good presents.

If you were anything like Mr. Ali, you would of sat infront of the TV watching all the fantastic films which were on.

We also had some snow over the holidays, so I am sure some of you were out in the snow, making snowmen.

I would like you to write about what you got up to over your holidays:

What was the best part of being off from school

As we are all aware, we have just had none uniform day on Monday this week. We were asked to wear our brightest and the most colourful clothes which we could find at home to wear to school.

On Monday when school started it looked as though we had a rainbow flowing in our classrooms and hallways. Everybody was so well dressed in their bright colours.

Mr Cutis came in the brightest yellow pants which he could find, for those who had a chance to see him they were brighter than the sun, but he looked very cool. All the teachers made an effort to do so; even Mr Jackson came in with his bright pink shirt (well-done Mr Jackson).

What I would like you to do today is to write about what you wore on Monday to school for none uniform day and what your favourite colour is.

For those who do this quickly, can you please tell us all who you thought was the best dressed teacher and why.

We have just had a very loud and colourful night sky this weekend, due to a tradition which has been going on for many years.

Bonfire night started in November 1605; Guy Fawkes was the reason to this amazing and colourful night.

Did anybody go to see any fireworks on the 5^th of November?

If so, which ones did you like best?

-          The loud ones?

-          The colourful ones?

-          The big ones which shoot up like rockets?

-          The sparklers which you may of held?

We went to Skipton castle on Monday.  We had a good day. The weather was bright and sunny.

The castle is 900 years old. When the bad enemies come they put the draw bridge down because they don’t want the bad enemies to come in. A big metal gate stops the enemy from coming in.

The watch tower was used to look for enemies. They used it to arch. They fired there bow and arrows at the enemy. It was used to spy on the enemy too. There is a flag on the watch tower.

This tower was used to keep all of the amour and the weapons safe.  We didn’t get to go in here but we did see it from the outside of the castle.

They would capture the enemy and put them in the dungeon.  There was no light in the dungeon so it was very very dark and very scary. It was a very cold down there. They could not escape.
